Charity and Anne calling ....where is Ree ..... we have a problem .....

Sometimes my paintings come out sideways on this blog and now it's not just me ....Charity has the same problem ......I don't understand why they go on here like that.
I take the photograph in the normal way, I open it in Paint Shop pro Photo editing programme, crop it, save it with a new name on to my Desktop. All throughout this process it is sitting the right way up. When I open it on my desktop it is sitting the right way but then when I post it here it turns sideways ....I'm confused. hahaha
I have no problem posting the same photograph on to WetCanvas and it is always turned the right way there ....it is only here on the blog ...weird .....

...we can always scoop up what's left once the aliens leave. I spent an hour or so on this, and worked a bit more on the shadows. I'm not really happy with how it turned out, but it definately could be worse.

I too, only ventured as far as my garden and tried to paint one of the trees in it ....JJ's grandkids could do better ...... hahaha ....but I enjoyed it .....

Anne's Challenge. (plein air)

I painted this geranium at the Market on Sunday. Peter, the plant man let me borrow one of his pot plants. I sat it on my art table I have set up and.............here it is.. 6"x4" on board acrylic.

I say, the aliens are coming, true, they are, I heard it on the readio. Protect yourself! Grab your alfoil your metal bowls....

...or in my case a stainless steel measuring cup hahahahaha. Not going to cover much but hey.... A4 sketch book Graphite.

First picture is an update. I posted my drawing in the Drawing and Sketching Forum, on Wet Canvas and got some really invaluable advice. I thinks it looks better now, I deepened the inside of the container and lightened the handle shadow.

Anne's Challenge

Anne, Here is my effort. It has been a bit cold and windy here for the last few days (for the tropics) and being a bit of a woose, I settled for a vignette of a sheltered corner of my garden.

Painting I have been working on today.

Can't get a decent pic' of the water. I will try again, later, when it is darker, and the fluro lights are working at their best. 12"x16" Double thickness gallery wrap canvas. Acrylic

Hattish thing.

It only took a while, but I finally got it drawn up. I started later than I wanted. This is hubby's work hat when he has to go to the field or gets deployed. My husband is in the military, by the way. :) Think I got the shadows better this time (hopefully). It's not this grainy in person, but my scanner likes to add it's own little white dots. lol

A shaped covering for the head, usually with a crown and brim, esp. for wear outdoors

I am reluctant to post this after seeing JJ's grandkids drawings hahaha

DDRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTY SEVEN (27)

Go look in your kitchen tool drawer. The one where you have your egg flip, potato masher, serving spoons in. Pick out one thing and draw it.

Reece and Elise's Hats

Both these were drawn in the kids respective sketchbooks.

Elise tore her paper somehow, and it wasn't from erasing, as she doesn't get to use a rubber. I am not sure what she did. Pity, but it is still a neat drawing.

Reece's is really quite good. He drew it in his Monte Marte A4 sketchbook, with a 2B graphite pencil. He doesn't do a lot of life drawing, and I am really pleased that he drew what he saw. The only life drawing he does, pretty much, is with me. He does draw a lot from a learning to draw book I gave him for Christmas last year.

I had Reece and Elise with me today. My grandkids Charity. Reece is 12 an Elise is 8. They love "doing" art with me. They also drew my hat. I will put their pictures into a separate thread, if you guys don't mind?

A small metal instrument specially cut to fit into a lock and move its bolt ....

The size you see should be the size that it is ..... some day I am gonna draw earlier and be the first to post here .....some day ..... you just wait and see ....haha

Wow. The key was kinda hard. I spent a long time on it, and hope I got the shadows a bit better. Not that it's the best key ever, but it's not the worst I've ever drawn, either. lol

I'm back!!

I wasn't actually away but I just was very busy last week and had little time to draw the daily challenge but I see how well you lot are coming on with your drawings and I can see the benefits of drawing each day.
This one is on pastels ....not sure if we were meant to stick to pencils but they are kinda pencils?
I have used pastels very little as you will see ....
It is about 6"X 8"

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTY FOUR (24) Mandarin

A4 sketchbook. I forgot my pencils today, only had my mechanical 2B graphite. Was a challenge getting the values.. It took patience.

I drew this while sitting in my booth. Was a slow process, as I had customers and lookers in and out, but it was fun. (and a profitable day, I sold 3 paintings)

I actually drew this twice. The first time with the skin on, to see if I could get the texture right. I couldn't, need to go look at www.drawspace.com for a citrus fruit peel tutorial. So I broke the fruit open and drew it. Much more interesting anyway..

There is this one man Frederick, he is European, and has a stall with his mother, selling lavender and wheat packs. The kind you heat up in the microwave. He comes and checks out my work all the time. He came back 3 times to see if I had finished the finished drawing. Tania had called in to see me and she was sitting on the ground, the last time he called in, and she said "Oh I don't like that" Frederick says "are you crazy! that is good!" lol. It isn't that good, but it is nice to know I have a fan lol.. (I painted my plein air today too)

Fruit

Hmm...my banana didn't turn out so well. I used the wrong pencils and was already halfway done before I realized this, so, while it's not looking like a healthy banana, perhaps it's a sickly banana??

This is all there was in my left drawer. How sad. So shiny and not very good. Every time I moved, the shadows changed. lol Sooo, here's my attempt. :)
