Reece and Elise's Hats

Both these were drawn in the kids respective sketchbooks.

Elise tore her paper somehow, and it wasn't from erasing, as she doesn't get to use a rubber. I am not sure what she did. Pity, but it is still a neat drawing.

Reece's is really quite good. He drew it in his Monte Marte A4 sketchbook, with a 2B graphite pencil. He doesn't do a lot of life drawing, and I am really pleased that he drew what he saw. The only life drawing he does, pretty much, is with me. He does draw a lot from a learning to draw book I gave him for Christmas last year.

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTYSIX (26) HAT

A4 sketch book. Graphite. I bought this gorgeous hat in London in 2004. I have never worn it, but Tania has to a Melbourne Cup "do"

I had Reece and Elise with me today. My grandkids Charity. Reece is 12 an Elise is 8. They love "doing" art with me. They also drew my hat. I will put their pictures into a separate thread, if you guys don't mind?

A small metal instrument specially cut to fit into a lock and move its bolt ....

My car key ....haha
The size you see should be the size that it is ..... some day I am gonna draw earlier and be the first to post here .....some day ..... you just wait and see ....haha

Key

Wow. The key was kinda hard. I spent a long time on it, and hope I got the shadows a bit better. Not that it's the best key ever, but it's not the worst I've ever drawn, either. lol

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTYSIX (26)

I wasn't actually away but I just was very busy last week and had little time to draw the daily challenge but I see how well you lot are coming on with your drawings and I can see the benefits of drawing each day.
This one is on pastels ....not sure if we were meant to stick to pencils but they are kinda pencils?
I have used pastels very little as you will see ....
It is about 6"X 8"

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTY FOUR (24) Mandarin

A4 sketchbook. I forgot my pencils today, only had my mechanical 2B graphite. Was a challenge getting the values.. It took patience.

I drew this while sitting in my booth. Was a slow process, as I had customers and lookers in and out, but it was fun. (and a profitable day, I sold 3 paintings)

I actually drew this twice. The first time with the skin on, to see if I could get the texture right. I couldn't, need to go look at www.drawspace.com for a citrus fruit peel tutorial. So I broke the fruit open and drew it. Much more interesting anyway..

There is this one man Frederick, he is European, and has a stall with his mother, selling lavender and wheat packs. The kind you heat up in the microwave. He comes and checks out my work all the time. He came back 3 times to see if I had finished the finished drawing. Tania had called in to see me and she was sitting on the ground, the last time he called in, and she said "Oh I don't like that" Frederick says "are you crazy! that is good!" lol. It isn't that good, but it is nice to know I have a fan lol.. (I painted my plein air today too)

Fruit

Hmm...my banana didn't turn out so well. I used the wrong pencils and was already halfway done before I realized this, so, while it's not looking like a healthy banana, perhaps it's a sickly banana??

Item in my drawer.

This is all there was in my left drawer. How sad. So shiny and not very good. Every time I moved, the shadows changed. lol Sooo, here's my attempt. :)

Hello!!

Hi everyone. My name is Charity. I met JJ through the D&S forum on Wetcanvas and she sweetly offered to let me join in! It took a few hours, but I finally figured out how to post on here. I feel a bit slow since it was pretty easy, but I'm alright with that. So, she asked me to stop in and say hi, and if anyone wants to know more about me, just ask. I'll be happy to tell. :)

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTY FOUR (24)

Draw a piece of fruit.

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTY THREE (23) Camphor Ball

I went to my drawer, looked through all the things I have stashed along with my unmentionables, and I found this little wooden car ej gave me.
I thought, hey yeah!! I will draw that. Yeah right.. no I wont, I am not good enough, yet.. I did try, I had it half drawn, but it looked awful, so I erased it, and went back to the drawer for another search. I came up with this. I thought - famous last thoughts- How hard can this be? Well it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but here it is. A little Camphor-wood ball. They have the most delicious smell. (you can buy them here in the supermarket)

This weeks challenge is easy .....

This weeks challenge is easy ..... get yourself outside and do a Plein Air painting.

The challenge painting .....

What a coincidence that JJ painted a waterfall and so did I ......
My painting is from a photograph that I took at the Glenariffe waterfalls ......I love that place ..... it is absolutely magical ....It's a pity I can't seem to catch some of that magic in my painting as that was what I wanted to do ....but it's not finished yet ....maybe the magic will come yet!! .....
This one is big 30" X 40" acrylic on canvas .....

The Challenge: The River City

Watercolour. My first attempt. It has many faults but I feel encouraged to try again.

My words.

"Brisbane - The River City

Power and energy of the city centre contained by the peace and tranquility of the gardens and the river.

Viewing this scene in the middle of the day *flat light), the looming storm clouds invoked a feeling of aggression and menace towards an unsuspecting city - the people engrossed in thier highrise world and oblivious to the approaching storm until it is upon them and the oigjtning pierces their senses, the thunder roars and the water sheets down."

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day TWENTY (20)

Go into your bedroom, pick one thing and draw it..

DRAWING CHALLENGE Day NINETEEN (19) Guess what it is? I dare you...

6"x8" sketchbook Graphite.
