DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 38 (19-07-09) I am watching you.... :)

I drew this guy at the market today. I used my pastel pencils for the first time. The reference photo was from a friend.. So, I drew it outside my house, and this is something Hey.. :D I am so tired I can't draw anything else today. I was up at 4.00am, and I didn't get home until 6.00pm. I am tired and sore. I did paint two little frog paintings, I will photograph them tomorrow and post them. I quite like them for a change..

P.S.

I didn't realise until after I had photographed this, that there is a watermark on the edge of the paper. Just as well it is a practice drawing.. This pad must have gotten water damaged, the time I was caught in the rain storm at the market.

PPS

The highlights in his eyes. I could not for the life of me get the white pastel pencil to work on top of the darks. No way was it going to show up..:( I forgot to take a pencil sharpener too, so couldn't sharpen the darn pencil either.. (makes not to put sharpener in market bag)

....well it is somehing that was in my kitchen at one time bt thankfully not now ....I hope!!!!

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 38 (19-07-09)

Today, we will draw something from outside our house.

This weeks challenge

Is coming....... I have had a week, where I absolutely haven't stopped, every day, all things not arty too, except for taking my paintings over to the RNA Exhibition.

I have an idea in mind, need to process it more. I will give it thought tomorrow at the markets, and post it tomorrow night..

Thank you for your patience..

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 37 (18-07-09) Shot...

It wasn't easy. Nothing is easy. sigh.... But it was fun, like a jigsaw puzzle putting in all the dark shapes and light shapes and lifting out the highlights..

A4 sketchbook.. Graphite

This IS in my Computer Room

Just clearing that up. haha I needed something somewhat easy tonight because I've been busy all day. It's actually a bit darker than it shows, but I guess my photos aren't that great yet..getting better though. :) I retried the cap, JJ...and refuse to post it because I got frustrated and threw the entire bottle away. lol So, here's one of the pencils that I use very rarely.

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 37 (18-07-09)

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 36 (17-07-09)

Draw something from your computer room :-))

Have fun

From the Laundry Room

Ok, so I don't have much of an imagination right now. So, here's my fabric softener. It took close to 3 hours and by the time I got to the lid, I was sick of it. lol I tried the blending thing this time, and I'm not sure that it turned out well, but that may be because I have absolutely no clue how to blend. hahaha But that's alright..at least I tried. Yes, it DOES have a bend in it on the left..oddly, they've decided to make bottles more interesting looking lately, I suppose.
Weird...for some reason, my darks aren't that dark on the photo..even after me 'fixing' it. So, apparently, everything is a bit darker in my sketchbook than it shows...sorry about that.

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 35 (16-07-09) From the laundry....

So I went down to my laundry two or three times, and nothing grabbed me. Tonight I went back down again, and the shape of my laundry detergent bottle excited me, so I brought it upstairs to my office, put it in my shadow box, and drew it.

Yellow ...especially for those of you who hate .... it hahaha

Color Yellow

The shade of yellow determines the meaning. Pure, bright and sunny yellow is the easiest color to see. People who are blind to other colors can usually see yellow. Yellow is full of creative and intellectual energy. Always use yellow note pads.

Yellow symbolizes wisdom. Yellow means joy and happiness. People of high intellect favor yellow. Yellow daffodils are a symbol of unrequited love. Sunday's color is yellow-gold.
Yellow Energy

Like the energy of a bright sunny day, yellow brings clarity and awareness. The shade of yellow determines its effect: Yellow-green can mean deceit, and creates a disoriented feeling. Orange-yellow imparts a sense of establishment. Clean light yellow clears the mind, making it active and alert.

Put some yellow in your life when you want:

* clarity for decision-making
* relief from 'burnout', panic, nervousness, exhaustion
* sharper memory and concentration skills
* protection from lethargy and depression during dull weather

Yellow gem stone properties

Carry or wear yellow gemstones to promote the ability to express yourself. They are excellent stones for writers and public speakers to increase eloquence. The yellow stones stimulate movement and mental awareness. They are used to enhance decision making skills.

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 35 (16-07-09)

By request, we shall go to our laundry today, and draw something from there. Thank Ree. :-))

Toilet related thing

So, I had to send hubby to the store since we were out of toilet paper. I figured that you all drew most of the stuff I had and I wasn't about to draw the nasty plunger we have, so I'd draw what was LEFT of the toilet paper. :) Well, here it is...all that's left. lol It's really fuzzy, and yes, the top was misshapen like that. My photo wasn't that great, but it's a photo. :) lol

Ree's Challenge

Ree, Here it is although I am not a happy lassie with this one. I was trying for yellow, red and blue all just one small shift clockwise on the colour wheel. I set it up in a light box as instructed outside on a table, then sat on a very low stool in order not to block the sunlight, and then had to paint very quickly before the light shifted too much. Hence, no times for cups of tea between drying of layers and it all became rather"wet and wild".

That Makes Me Second......

....right? lol Ok, so I spent waaaay too long on this. And the banana changed a couple of times (it tasted really good though). I actually got it all to fit into my small light box, but because the banana was too much to resist, I had to finish the picture (mainly the folds) from a ref pic. This was a ton of fun! :D

Am I first?

Can it be true that I am the first to post the challenge painting? ....I guess that's because I have been bad at doing the daily drawing ..... so shout at me if you want to .....
I'm not even sure if I have done the right thing but I had fun doing this little guy ...
6" X 6" on canvas

Sorry .....it's not in my toilet but I was doing something arty ....

I wanted to let you see that I am still doing some art and I will get back to the daily drawing ....I just need to stay off the net .... LOL
This is a painting I am working on. It is The Red Arch which is about 20 miles from where I live.
It is a WIP so any help you can give me would be appreciated .....

A4 Sketchbook graphite

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 33 (14-07-09) Beading Pliers

Last, but not least, here I am. Derwent sketchbook and graphite

Before you say anything Ree, yes the shadows looked exactly like that, it was the way I had the lamp projected into the light box..

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 34 (15-07-09)

Today you will draw something from your toilet. hahahaha, and no, Ree not your bathtub, it has to be toilet related :D

The Screwdriver

I'd much rather have the vodka and orange juice kind, but this'll work too. lol I couldn't sleep, so I figured I'd get a head start. So, here's my screwdriver. Yes, it IS a very short one in real life even. I do apologise for the quality of the photo. It's 4:30 am and one of my husband's friends is asleep on the couch, so I am unable to turn on any lights except for the one at my desk.

Kneadable Eraser

Since I don't actually have an art room, I looked around my desk (which is where I draw) and found..what else?...my kneadable eraser that I play with when I'm thinking. It happened to be in a snail shape this time, so I left it as is and drew it. I change it's shape daily. lol And since I had to use it to pull out the highlights, it no longer looks like this. At the moment, it's a hat for my little wooden figure guy. :D

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 33 (14-07-09)

Today, we will draw a tool. Not a kitchen tool, but a mechanical tool. Like a screwdriver/hammer/pliers etc..

Have fun......
