Get those brushed out, sharpen those pencils ... make ready!!!!!!

Merry Christmas Ladies.

Please make ready for the new year. :-)) WE are coming back full swing. We will be drawing and painting, and we will resurrect our challenges.. Any ideas are more than welcome. We all need to really make this blog work in the new year, we need to help each other to get motivated and make art..

What say you? Who is In?

  1. I see Charity is in and Anne is not. We should do something to stay motivated. I am totally unmotivated...have not really done anything lately...trying to motivate myself again after quitting pastels (cleaned my room where I do art and was shocked at the dust in my aircleaner)...did a colored pencil bobcat Oct 10th and a watercolor portrait for the WDE last week. I've made the habit of video games lately. I am currently trying to do a falcon in oils...hope to stay motivated with that. Want to make myself do a WDE this week also. First of the year for next year? Sounds like a good New Years Resolution!

  2. Hey Linda. Good to see you are in. I think Ree is with us too.

Oils are good. I was expecting a parcel of water-soluble oils from Australia, but they haven't turned up yet, maybe in the new year, if not I will buy some here, or online. Might find a deal somewhere. I love oils and am missing them. I am also missing my watercolours too.

I started a charcoal drawing, am about half way through, I will post it later.

I am spending far too much time on Facebook :p

  4. I am really taking time with this falcon...I am letting the paint dry before putting more layers in. I am really hopeful! The beauty of oils to me besides the slow drying time is the blendability and the colors stay the same. I have both types of oils but am using Duo Aqua Oils for this...like the water solible idea...no harsh chemicals. My other type of painting I am doing is watercolor...I put in an order of watercolor paper and mask for my Xmas list. :-D The pastels decided it wasn't worth breathing all that dust. I have some Matisse Acrylics (made in Australia you know) and haven't even used them yet after buying them last summer. I liked the colors they had and I will use them.

Glad you are enjoying your trip! Wow it is a long one this time.

Glad Ree will be in also.

  5. I am having a blast on this trip. I wont be back in Australia until around May sometime..

I love my acrylics. I blend them, using them the same way as I use my watercolours. Takes practice, but it is worth it, and once you have found the brushes that work for you, easier. My best friend with acrylics is my spray water bottle..

I was using M.Graham oils, with Walnut Alkyd. No chemicals. I didn't bring them with me, and I wish I did now. No smell really. The water soluble are not cheap.

  6. Yep, I'm in ladies. :) Nice to see you again, Linn. ON the subject of what to use, my mother decided it would be an awesome idea to get me some oil pastels. Would you believe that I have NO idea how in the world to use them? lol I'm still stuck on dry media, though (wait..do watercolor pencils count as dry? >.>). I can't wait for the new year to start. I'm doing more fantasy stuff right now, and it's not going well..so I'm excited. :D See you ladies soon!

  7. Wow oil pastels hey.

I made a frog painting in oil pastel scratch art, and loved doing it. Other than that, I am a novice too :-))

  8. Oil pastel scratch art? Is that like..putting down the colors, then going back with something sharp and "cutting" out the details? I never thought I would even try them till my mom gave them to me..but now that I have them..well...I have to try them, dontcha know? lol
