Something New For Me....

I've been watching a friend's little girl quite a bit lately. She's a really sweet little 4 year old. Well, because I've been watching her, he bought me some watercolor pencils I've had my eye on. I tried them tonight, and they're SOOOO much fun!! I haven't played with watercolors in so long, and get some pencils like these...well..let's just say..I'm thrilled!! So, I figured I'd upload what I played with. I do apologize for the crappy picture. The paper is a bit too big for the scanner, so I had to take a pic..and I'm horrible at that. lol It's a lot brighter than the picture shows..

  1. That is a pretty flower Charity. I have watercolour pencils here too, and I really am not too fussed with them. I don't like coloured pencil work either. But that is just me, and it is probably because I don't know how to use them. Saying that I am amazed at how other folks use them. You are a natural!!! Have a look at that post I put up on photographing your work.. :)

  3. I like the light hitting the top of your flower. I have colored pencils also but haven't used them a lot.

  5. Thanks ladies. :D I learned while doing this that you have to completely cover the area you're working on with the pencil, then go over it with the water. They ARE a lot of fun, and once dry, you can add several layers. Plus, you can use the regular colored pencils to add to the piece. It's quite interesting. I didn't want to try anything hard, so I figured a simple flower would do the trick. :D That way, I could see how different textures/areas got covered.
