DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 56 6/8/09 Whatever I felt like... Annes Challenge

I am thinking of painting this scene, with a better foreground of course. I want to paint the tree, as a Ghost Gum. The rock is supposed to be Uluru Nice video on that link. I got a bit carried away with the texture at the top of the rock, but some photo's do show the top jagged like this. I guess it just depends on where you are standing when you take the photo..

  1. I love both the idea and the drawing, JJ. Beautiful tree AND rock. Just a thought..where's the light coming from? I ask because of the shadow of the rock compared to the shading on and shadow from the tree. I'm really looking forward to seeing the painting. :D

  3. You may want to check the long shadow of the rock, then. If the light is coming from the left, shouldn't the shadow be to the right? I could be wrong..YOU're the shading guru. :)

  6. You could be right Charity, the photo had no shadow at all for the rock, only for the tree, and the shadow for the tree was on the right of the tree.

Thanks for your critique. WE all should critique more, don't be afraid, no-one is going to bite :D

I have reversed it for the painting.. :D

  7. Good effort, JJ...think the cast shadow would closer to the base of the rock as it in the distance i.e. objects furtherest away would cast smaller shadows, with the light source your have in the drawing
