My painting Sketch and reshoot of Pastel Plant

here's the plant redo. It isn't over until/unless it leaves the house so I may add more depth in the future.

Then my painting, which is just a sketch looking to make a larger painting with more staffing. I have such trouble with perspective so that's why I did this. I can't say that I learned a thing with this exercise so I think I really did it just to wet the brushes. Didn't take care with the palette either. Me bad. Comment if you choose to, because I will be interested.

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 59 (9 Aug 09)

This must be my last day ....surely .... and then you will all be back to more interesting suggestions .... hahaha ....so for the second day in a row ..... just draw something .....the main thing is that you do draw .... :)

Today's drawing

My first time using compressed charcoal .... so I drew my camera .... about 3" X 4"

Painting Challenge

Tiger Lilies are my favorite flower. I have wild ones planted in a lot of different areas around my home that I transplanted from an old farmhouse in the country. The colors in this look better in real life...I could not get photo shop to adjust the colors or contrasts the way they look in the original painting. This is pastel on dark gray colorfix paper.

Free day .....draw whatever you feel like .....Yay! ....I love free days!!

Eclipses are not easy .....

The leafy thing ....

Pastel sticks about 6" X 8"

Painting Challenge (flower/s or something leafy) week ending 7 August '09

My little bonsai peach tree heralding spring in the tropics.

Twin Ghost Gums.

I wish I could get a proper photo of this, this one is a little washed out, as is all my photos of my acrylic paintings.. I also wish i had taken a photo of the sky before painting over it, I was really pleased with the sky, then I covered it up.. :0 12"x16" Gallery wrap canvas.

How's this Fookie?

Eclipse

Okay...I only did 1 eclipse in this maybe 2 and not good ones either. Darn JJ...I wish I was talented enough to pull this off...I am going to keep practicing...

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 57 (7 AUG 09)

Ok ....I can't let the week go by without having the dreaded eclipse drawing now can I?
So find something with an eclipse and draw it....simple!
WHEN IS MY WEEK UP?

Something with 2 lines and something I have wanted to draw.

I have decided to just do quick sketches from now on. I was spending too much time trying to get the shading right but all I want from this daily drawing exercise is to help me get the right shape for when I am doing a painting.
I don't want to go the route that Graphite artists go and have to spend 30+ hours on one little drawing. I want to paint.
...so what do you think these are?
Sorry ...the lighting is bad ...I took the pics at night ....

Painting 06/08/09 Uluru (Ayers Rock, and a Ghost Gum)

12"x16" canvas - acrylic

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 56 6/8/09 Whatever I felt like... Annes Challenge

I am thinking of painting this scene, with a better foreground of course. I want to paint the tree, as a Ghost Gum. The rock is supposed to be Uluru Nice video on that link. I got a bit carried away with the texture at the top of the rock, but some photo's do show the top jagged like this. I guess it just depends on where you are standing when you take the photo..

This Week's Painting Challenge 5 August-12 August

JJ asked me to post this here today. I'm still working on last week's, but we can all think about what to paint while finishing, right? :) So, I had a flash of inspiration. I did some looking online because I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what a fun painting challenge would be...so here it is.

Paint Your Feelings...that's right..I said paint your feelings. lol Sounds difficult to me, but I found a site that can help with the colors for feelings...http://listorganizer.com/oddsends.htm ... This sounded like fun to me, and I hope you ladies have fun with it. This can be done in any style, in any medium.

This needs to be posted by 12 August.

Whatever I Felt Like

While waiting for the batteries to charge in my camera so I could take a picture of the pencil I thought well I may as well not waste time and find something to draw or paint. I really wasn't in the mood to paint or draw really but I looked at the wallpaper on my computer screen and thought why not draw that...so here it is a beach scene from my computer wallpaper.

2 Straight Lines

Here is the 2 straight lines with no ruler...looking around for something to draw and thought why not a pencil.

Drawings

I don't really make a drawing a day, and I have been here stealing and commenting on the stuff you do. So I thought I would make a post showing you want I have been working on during the month of July. These are all Pastels, on Laid finish paper, or in the case of the Style of Lucien Freud it is Bristol smooth. The Freud Style has been worked on since this photo, and it needs more.

I'm looking to stylize portraits, and that's what these 2 are. If you would care to show reactions, I would appreciate it. The dog is a cute picture I saw on the internet and I thought I might gift the owner, but I've decided I will not give away my work anymore. The plant is from a photo, and I wish I had it in person because this is an example of when from life is better. I see that I need to give the inside stalks more depth (lower value). I love drawing plants.

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 56 (6 Aug 09)

I can't think ....I'm going out soon to a 50th birthday party meal and linedance .....I won't be back till late .....I haven't even done a drawing for today ....so the challenge is simple ....just draw something that you really want to draw .....

Something Special

Somebody will recognise this. :-)

This is a very special gift in two ways. One, the person who gave it to me is a very good friend, of long standing, and I treasure her friendship, secondly, when she found this gorgeous little elephant brooch, she looked on the back of it. There on the top right, was a copyright mark, and smack bang in the middle of that mark, were the initials JJ. It was made for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The elephant has two beautiful ruby red eyes. My favourite colour!!! This is one of my most treasured possessions..

A4 Sketchbook. Graphite.

Quick Update

Just figured I'd show you guys my update on the roadrunner. :) I still have a LOT to go, but I'm learning a lot about cars. hahaha

DRAWING CHALLENGE DAY 55 (5 Aug 09)

Crikey!! ....nearly forgot .....I am running out of ideas ....
Draw something that's in your house or garden but it has to have at least 2 long straight lines in it and you have to draw the lines without using a ruler .....I hope that makes sense ....it's late ....I am tired .....
