Annnd...back. :P

Hi ladies. I've finally made the move back to Arkansas. We've been here a bit, but just got settled...well...almost settled. I'm now looking for work and getting ready to start on my Master's degree and we're staying with my husband's father until we are both gainfully employed. Buuut...we're here. :) So, things should slow down soon and I should be able to start drawing again. I've missed you ladies and I'm happy to be back. Now...to get JJ back...hehe

Dust Storm

Absolutely blows me away. I have never seen anything like it over the city before, well not this bad. It is oppressive. The red dust have blown up from Western Australia. I have to wear my mask, as I am wheezing.. :-(

Hey up everyone..

It is far too quiet around here.... :)

What have you been painting? Drawing? Doing??

Okay...I am no good at this!

There once was a fellow name Hugh
Who went to town on a mule
But it started raining and
The sky started falling so
He had to go home on a boat!

My feelings painting.....at last ....

I love the color yellow and how it makes me feel so I had a quick search about it on the internet and found out a little more about it .....

Yellow symbolizes: wisdom, joy, happiness and intellectual energy.
Put some yellow in your life when you want clarity for decision-making, relief from 'burnout', panic, nervousness, exhaustion. It also aids sharper memory and concentration skills and gives protection from lethargy and depression during dull weather.
On the downside ......people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused..... so I won't be painting a whole room yellow!!!

I saw a big yellow lily painting on Wetcanvas and I decided to paint myself a big yellow flower .....
30" X 28"

Here it is above my computer ....

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE

You must choose one word from the limerick you wrote and make a painting out of it.

Oh, and, I don't mean paint the word literally..:p

Post the painting Monday 14th.

Horrible Timing

I'm so sorry I'm late on my limerick, ladies. It's been busy here. If it's not drunk friends taking my attention, it's packing up the house and taking care of dogs. I haven't really even been able to touch a pencil the last couple of days. I think I may have to take some time away to get things done here at the house. We're still waiting to find out when we're moving, and our kids are missing us like crazy (I'm missing them much more though). Once we get a date, it's probably only going to be about 2 weeks from the day we get hubby's orders. So, basically, we're trying to get everything packed and ready that we're not using or is not a necessity before we get the date. Plus, I"m looking to go back to college, so that's yet another thing I'm dealing with here (online since I don't have time to go to a traditional university). So, until everything slows down some, I think I need some time. Once we get moved and settled in our new house (halfway across the country), I can join back in, if you ladies are still happy to have me. :) Until then, I'm going to miss you all. If you need to chat, or just want to, JJ has my messenger info and I'd be happy to hear from you. :D

JJ's Limerick

There was a lady named Anne

She was watching Ree climb a span

When Ree's pants split

Anne had a fit

and Ree's face went dead pan

My Limerick

There once was a young man called Eddie
For fun ....he was ever ready!
He slipped on some ice
It didn't feel nice
Now Eddie isn't so steady!

I could only upload 5 pictures so here are the rest.

Paintings I have done at the Market

Most times I take my paints with me when I go to the market. I paint on 5"x7" gallery wrap canvas and sell them for $15.00 each.

This lot I did the last two times I went.. I have 4 market days left before I head overseas..

And I Really Have Been Drawing....

I promise. :) Well, sketching really. While my hubby had me hanging out over the past weekend, I did some quickish sketches. That and while we were at the emergency room waiting to be seen for my hubby's newly fractured pinky toe. lol At home, I've been working on that giraffe, but it's not making me happy..so anyhow..I guess I should actually post some of the sketches. hehe

The hand was the first. I spent probably close to an hour and a half on it. I used my own hand for this..but added a bit more nail. No, it's not the best, but the light kept changing and started annoying me. lol

The foot came next. I was wearing socks and shoes, so I couldn't see my foot, and just kinda guessed where everything went. Looks a bit cartoonish to me. hehe

The face (or half a face) was last. This was done out of pure boredom while waiting for my husband to be called back by the doc.

Puppy in Colored Pencil

1st or 2nd Colored Pencil I ever tried...Derwent Colorsoft on 10x14 Fabriano or something like that pastel paper. Takes a lot more patience than I thought and not as easy as pastel or even watercolor. The right eye does not have a white ring...flash from the camera I think...it is really the same color as the left eye.

Help needed with boat reflections ....

I started this boat last week and I need help with what reflections I would see in the water if it was quite still. I only have a picture of the boat on dry land but it has to be in the water for the painting .....
Any other advice would be most welcome .....
Thanks gals .....
I have edited it to include the boat on dry land ....

I haven't been painting or drawing because I have been ......

.....dancing at the Auld Lammas Fair yesterday and today ....for charity ....the local coastguards who depend on donations from the public.
Here are some pics .....I know y'all will want proof!!!

Elephant

I drew this partly this afternoon, and this evening. It took me around 6 hours, no more. This is one of the pictures in the Drawing and Sketching Forum on Wet Canvas for this weeks drawing challenge

12"x17" Charcoal.

The Last of the Summer Roses

If you remember the sketch of the roses, this is where I was headed. I have a good bit of a fair way to go on backgrounds yet but I will get there slowly. Watercolour 19 x 27 cm.
